Over and Over and Over
Over and Over and Over is a self-published photobook containing 80 photographs and an essay. The images were made between 2022 and 2023 in Sweden and Germany. The book follows the photographer’s father and brother over the course of several seasons as they compete in the European Drag Racing Championship. The photographs depict a struggle between human and machine, as well as between man and the laws of physics. But they also speak to something more: to how we, as humans, create meaning in a world that entirely lacks a given meaning. They engage with Albert Camus’s reading of Sisyphus, with the everyday struggle and its repetitions, and with how, by actively creating and accepting these laborious repetitions, we can find both a sense of belonging and a form of life satisfaction.
